6 tips to turn New Year’s resolutions into reality

6 tips to turn New Year’s resolutions into reality

With New Year round the corner, it’s time to make that list of aspirations and goals. Here’s how to achieve them...

• Be realistic:
Wanting to go sky-div
ing if you’re afraid of heights won’t make it easy on you. Commit to a task that won’t stress you.

• Try making it public:
When you commit to doing something and keep it to yourself,
you’re not accountable to anyone. Make the mantra public so that someone can check on you.

• Don’t have a whole list of goals:
Research has shown that the brain has the ability to concentrate well on just
one task at a time and and then flexibly switch to another task, so keep your resolutions likewise.

• Remove all self-doubt:
Negative thoughts of ‘how can I ever do this’
before you even start are wrong. It’s normal to feel fear, take that as par for the course and keep moving ahead.

• Make time to meditate or exercise:
It’s a great idea to ponder over your resolutions while
doing yoga or walking. It helps you reconnect with yourself.

• Dream of the rewards:
Envision the benefits of sticking to your resolution, like a smoke-free life or those six-pack abs. Positive imagery always works.
