AT THE HUSTINGS

AT THE HUSTINGS

Potli politics

With just two days to go for the polls, politicians are harping back on their time
tested wooing methods. No election in south Gujarat is complete without liquor and sumptuous food. An estimated 75,000 litres of country-made liquor is supplied on a daily basis from areas near Surat and it will rise to one lakh litres in Monday and Tuesday.
Candidate’s tempo seized in Surat

Umra police seized a tempo during election campaigning in City Light area in Surat. Sandeep Pal, the tempo driver, was
out campaigning with the sound system exceeding the noise regulation norms. The permit for election campaigning was in the name of Ketan Kapadia, a supporter of BJP candidate of Majura assembly Harsh Sanghvi.
6 lakh recovered from BJP worker

In a major haul after the Supreme Court’s orders on static surveillance teams (SST) operating in Gujarat, one of the SSTs seized Rs 6 lakh which was being transported in a car by a BJP worker in Sankheda constituency on Monday. The recovery was made around 1.30 am, but no FIR had been registered till evening, although a ‘panchnama’ has been made.
